Go from Overwhelmed to Overflowing
The Heartbeat of FCA
At the core of Battlefield FCA's mission, our traditional campus ministry serves as the vital heartbeat, operating within 34 high schools, 40 middle schools, and at the University of Mary Washington. These FCA Huddles are not merely gatherings; they are structured, certified small group Bible studies where athletes and coaches explore
spiritual formation in sports and experience personal growth.
Each huddle is designed to integrate athletic discipline with
faith and sports integration, enabling participants to strengthen their 'discipleship muscles' through regular study and reflection on the Word of God. This approach fosters
Christian athlete programs that help participants excel in their sports while navigating personal and academic challenges with Christian principles.
Battlefield FCA is committed to supporting each huddle by providing resources to get started, continuous training for effective leadership, and ongoing support to ensure each group thrives. Our goal is to deepen relationships with Jesus and equip every coach and athlete to become a leader who exemplifies Christ-like character both on and off the field.
At our Fredericksburg Power Camp, we currently serve approximately 400 young athletes, offering more than just summer activities. This
faith-centered sports camp
serves as a vibrant training ground for two distinct groups. First, 8-12-year-olds hone their athletic skills while deepening their faith, embodying biblical principles in athletics. Second, High School Huddle Leaders guide these younger campers, developing essential leadership and discipleship skills crucial for spreading the gospel.
Looking ahead, we plan to expand from one to four camps, aiming to reach over 1,500 kids. This growth will enhance our mission to shape young athletes and leaders into effective disciples and communicators of their faith.
Our Regional Camps provide a transformative experience for high school athletes and college student mentors. Hosted in dynamic settings like Liberty University, these camps combine rigorous athletic training with
faith-driven athletic development, spiritual growth, and leadership training.
High school athletes can expect to refine their sports skills under the guidance of experienced coaches while building a strong foundation in Christian values and leadership principles. Simultaneously, college students serving as Huddle Leaders guide these athletes through both their sports and spiritual journeys. This
mentorship helps leaders grow in their faith, develop critical communication skills, and
prepare for future roles as coaches or community leaders.
Together, these camps create a powerful environment where athletes and mentors grow in
Christian sports leadership, athleticism, and character, leaving a lasting impact on their lives and their communities.
Expanding Beyond Traditional Boundaries:
The Battlefield FCA Outdoor Sports Ministry is on an ambitious mission to extend its reach, welcoming new demographics into the fold. Through
faith-based outdoor sports training tailored for outdoor enthusiasts, we’re connecting with individuals who find their passion in activities like fishing, hunting, and equestrian sports. This ministry bridges the gap between the love for the great outdoors and the transformative power of faith.
We envision a vibrant community where outdoor sports enthusiasts experience the integration of spiritual formation in sports with their love for nature. By providing opportunities for connection, growth, and discipleship, this initiative is becoming a beacon of hope, attracting individuals from all walks of life who seek both adventure and a deeper spiritual connection.
A Grand Vision for Athletic and Spiritual Growth:
At Battlefield FCA Sports, we envision leagues where every cheer and every play resonates with a profound purpose. These are not just arenas of competition but places where faith and sports integration turns victories into celebrations of God's grace and defeats into lessons in perseverance and faith. Our leagues and clubs serve as platforms for both athletic excellence and spiritual formation in sports, demonstrating the transformative power of faith in action.
We strive to offer an alternative to traditional sports leagues and clubs by fostering environments where sports are more than just competition—they become pathways for
faith-driven athletic development. This holistic approach integrates spiritual growth into every aspect of the game, enabling athletes to thrive both on the field and in their personal journeys, making a lasting impact on their lives and communities.
Embracing All Abilities: A Vision of Inclusive Ministry At the heart of our expanded vision is the All-Ability initiative, designed to embrace coaches and athletes with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. This initiative underscores our belief that in God's eyes, we are all able, and every individual has unique contributions to make to our community and to the Kingdom of God.
Our commitment goes beyond mere inclusion; we aim to actively reach out to and engage with the All-Ability community, ensuring they are an integral part of the FCA family.
